Dan Montgomery Releases His Third Full Length Album
Memphis acclaimed Americana artist Dan Montgomery released his third full length album "You'll Never Be A Bird".
Following up on the acclaimed "Rosetta, please (a love story)"; Bird is Dan's most accomplished, varied and moving effort yet. With contributions from band mates Robert Mache(Continental Drifters, Steve Wynn) on Guitar, Mandolin & vocals, Louis Jay Meyers on Pedal Steel & Banjo, Andrew Simons on Upright Bass & vocals, Jesse Williams on Drums and Candace Mache on Harmony Vocals and other guests, this album offers a wide sonic palette. From the lilting title song, to the heavy sounds of "Wheels of Soul" with stops along the way like the slice of life "We Went To The Worlds Fair" and dreamy "Girl With A Broken Bell", This Bird covers a lot of ground. Songs about workers, strippers, jazz bassists, birds, the ghosts of friends & family long gone and the kind of story songs about users, losers & boozers that we've come to expect from Dan ever since his debut album "Man From Out of State".
Years of gigging, from large concert halls to intimate house concerts, have honed Dan's performance skills to make him a true must see artist. Along the way, he's shared the stage with such performers as; Amos Lee, Lucero, Cory Branan, Jason Isbell, David Wilcox , Peter Holsapple & Chris Stamey, Jack Ingram, Ben Vaughn, Slobberbone, Steve Forbert, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Colin Gilmore, Rosie Flores, and many more.
Whether hitting the boards with his always evolving band The Dan Montgomery 3+3(sometimes +4) or alone with his battered old Gibson acoustic, Dan brings it every night! No hum & strum singer songwriter, Dan Montgomery brings a rock music sensibility to the Americana genre, along with the ability to shine a strong light into some very dark corners.
